Highdiver Lysanne Richard has a deep bond with the wind and freedom. How else would you explain her desire to leap from a bridge or a steep cliff and hits the water at a speed of eighty kilometers per hour? For the stunned spectators, the fall of more than twenty meters lasts the blink of an eye, but for the athlete, these three seconds stretch into a moment of grace that is worth risking everything.
After studying at the National Circus School, she pursued a career as a circus artist from 2004 to 2014, creating acts for Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize and Les 7 Doigts de la main among others. However, it was in 2015 that she realized her greatest dream: joining the highdiving competition circuit. Since then, her meteoric rises among the elite has been confirmed. This champion is ranked second in the world in her discipline, third in the woman Red Bull Cliff Diving circuit in 2019 and has been a regular diver on the circuit since 2016. Over the course of her career, she has received numerous awards, including the 2016 FINA Female High Performance Diver of the Year, 2017 Plongeon Quebec Female Personality of the Year, 2019 Positive Wave from Diving Canada and 2019 Athlete of the Year from the Association La Voix des Sportifs, France.
Exceptional athlete and mother of three, Lysanne is a woman whose life path is a model of personal and professional accomplishment. With such lessons in perseverance and determination, how can we not want to aim higher and higher?
